Your CFC
2008 Chair's Letter
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Each year the Combined Federal Campaign accomplishes a great
deal in alleviating suffering, supporting challenged youth and assisting so
many less fortunate than ourselves. May
we and our loved ones never need such assistance; however we can be confident a
helping hand will always be there should the need arise.
We Americans are known throughout the world as a generous
people. It is one of our defining
characteristics: our willingness to contribute our time, wealth and energies to
worthy causes. This spirit of giving was
recognized by Alexis de Tocqueville, a French student of American democracy in
the 1830s. He wrote of America’s
success as being largely attributable to our willingness as a people to give of
ourselves for the common good.
As the Chair of this year’s Campaign, I ask for your support
for those less fortunate. Many of you
within the Federal Community are steadfast supporters of the CFC. Your consistent support of the causes you
care about through the years has been critical and your continuing contributions
are no less so. I thank each and every
one of you.
Those of you within the Federal Community who are not yet regular
participants, I ask that you take a fresh look and consider what you really care
about, and what we can do collectively if we all assist in whatever way we
can. There are so many opportunities to
make a real difference.
We all have full lives and the real advantage of very
important and gainful employment. As
Federal employees we enjoy a lifestyle more secure and better than most. For this we can be grateful.
America
is the nation it is today in large part due to the spirit of generosity and
sacrifice that has brought us together for generations. We all have a vested interest in contributing
to the common good.
Through this charity list and the online resources available
at www.yourcfc.org, the CFC makes it possible for all, of us with a minimum of
effort, to address our heartfelt interests. You can readily find numerous opportunities
to help in a meaningful way. Once you
find the cause(s) that resonate for you, a simple request to make a payroll
deduction will begin to make a difference.
Please search your heart and support this years CFC and the
causes you believe in.
With my deepest appreciation,

Bill McNamee
